  • Hugo Aguilar Says:

    beautiful

  • Alex Guzelian Says:

I'm not american so I don't understand can somebody explain.

  • Rose Arslanian Says:

Apparently it didn't have the word "God" in it before communism came about, when they were deemed "godless". Not true but anyways

  • Tony Rogari Says:

The term "under God" was added in the 1950s after there was a great interest in the words used in Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and the realization that the words "under God" may have been included in the address. It has nothing to do with communism, since Communism did not come to height until the 1960s.

  • Russell Mystiek Says:

Regardless of when Communism itself came to height, the American anti-Communist movement peaked in the early 1950's.

  • Gayane Allen Says:

because everyone freaks out about religious references… not like back when America was founded at least 70% of the population went to church

  • Thomas Watts Says:

Rose Lilac I can't tell if you are serious or not. Are you a troll? America is not founded on anything Christian. As George Washington said, “The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”Our founding fathers intended for America to be secular, with no dominant religion, as it should be. I can't believe that you are serious.

  • Kerensa ˚͜˚ B Says:

It's not "apparently" it is a fact. Also which part are you saying is "not true". American absolute terror of communism and its perceived godlessness was the direct reason for adding the words 'under god" to the pledge and on our money.

  • Bill Sipes Says:

No, before it was propaganda for Christian socialism. Either God or the state, they are both "gods" that require subjugation of the individual.
